The Army said it will spend $20 million to find some answers to the problem of American troops firing on each other during battle. The service, which is leading a Pentagon-wide effort to reduce “friendly fire” incidents, said that it has introduced simulated friendly and target vehicles into training routines. In addition, a videotape is being prepared for tank and helicopter gunship commanders showing what American and potential enemy vehicles look like under conditions of poor visibility.
