McDonnell Deal With Taiwan Sparks Anger
We were stunned and outraged to learn that McDonnell-Douglas Corp. was in negotiations to sell 40% of their commercial aircraft operations to foreign interests (“McDonnell in Tentative Deal With Taiwanese,” Nov. 20). The proposed sale is most definitely not in the national interest--especially not at the paltry sum that has been publicized.
Aerospace technology is one of the few remaining areas of commerce in which the United States has a leading edge and is a vital component in our struggle to regain a competitive role in the global economy. If completed, the virtual giveaway of this critical advantage is certain to accelerate our continuing pauperization.
