Courting Californians

Share

I would like to respond to the article, “Not Courting Californians,” Oct. 20. I was appalled by the small-minded people of Port Townsend who think that they can pick and chose who can vacation in their small town. I have been there once and let me tell you, you’re not missing anything. When asked by a visitor recently to take them to Port Townsend, I explained what I had read in the article and we decided to find somewhere better to spend our day. I feel sorry for them because they don’t know what they are missing. I have traveled throughout the U.S. and have found that the people of California are some of the warmest and friendliest anywhere.

If and when you decide to visit Washington, please don’t judge us by those few “bad eggs.” In my eyes, and those of many others, you are more than welcome to come and stay as long as you wish. This is a big state and there are many more beautiful places to visit.
