Crackdown Under Way on Levi Counterfeiting: China has launched a crackdown on counterfeiters of Levi jeans, seizing 170,000 pairs with fake labels, a Beijing-funded news agency said. Officials uncovered the counterfeits during raids on four factories in the northern city of Tianjin and six in the southern province of Guangdong, the China News Service said. The U.S.-based Levi Strauss Co. last week presented a silk banner and plaque to the Tianjin Administrative Bureau of Industry & Commerce for uncovering 150,000 pairs of fake Levis in Tianjin, the Hong Kong-based agency said.
