A Long Beach man was shot and killed Friday in a Panorama City neighborhood known for gang violence and drug sales, Los Angeles police said.

Gary Bolt, 23, was found bleeding from a wound in the chest about 12:30 a.m. in the 8500 block of Willis Avenue near Parthenia Street, said Detective Steve Hooks. Bolt was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Bolt was not believed to be a gang member, Hooks said.

“No suspects were apprehended and no weapon recovered,” Hooks said. “We’re still looking for clues.”

The 8500 block of Willis Avenue has been the scene of eight homicides this year, Hooks said.
