WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : CS Long Beach Routs Washington, 73-57
Cal State Long Beach defeated 14th-ranked Washington, 73-57, in the second round of the Cal State Long Beach Invitational women’s basketball tournament Friday night.
The 49ers led at halftime, 35-28, and then pulled away in the second half. Guard Trise Jackson led the way with 24 points, and forwards Kari Parriott and Kellie Bennett each added 14. Parriott also had a team-high 12 rebounds.
The 49ers (4-1) have won four consecutive games since their season-opening loss to No. 2-ranked Stanford. Washington (4-2) was led by Shaunda Greene’s 11 points.
