The city’s annual anniversary party is off next year. The $4,000 party, customarily thrown for the public in April to celebrate incorporation, was among several cuts made by the City Council Tuesday to make up for a revenue shortfall.

Other cuts included reducing street sweeping from once a week to once every two weeks starting in mid-January, limiting advertising and office supplies and removing one deputy from one of the six sheriff’s cars that patrol the city.

The cuts were in response to a staff report revising expected revenues down from $9 million to about $8.6 million mainly due to the recession.
