Khaosai Galaxy of Thailand weathered the toughest fight in his seven years as World Boxing Assn. junior-bantamweight champion and won a unanimous decision over Armando Castro of Mexico at Bangkok. He announced his retirement after the fight, which was the 19th successful defense of the title he won in November 1984.
Khaosai, 33, one of the most celebrated athletes in Thailand, won the WBA title in 1984 with a fifth-round knockout of Eusebio Espinal of Venezuela, and won 16 of his 19 defenses by knockout.
