Two suspected robbers led Santa Clarita Valley deputies on a high-speed chase to central Los Angeles, where they were arrested after abandoning their stolen pickup early Tuesday, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reported.

Deputies saw the pair about 2:30 a.m. on the Golden State Freeway near Magic Mountain Parkway after receiving a description of the car used by robbers of the Comfort Inn in Castaic, Deputy Bill Linnemeyer said. The motel manager reported that $600 was stolen at gunpoint before the thieves fled in his gray Toyota pickup.

Derrick Wilson, 18, and a 17-year-old companion were arrested after the truck was abandoned at Exposition Boulevard and Figueroa Street, Linnemeyer said. Both were being held on suspicion of robbery and grand theft auto.
