The Public Corporation for the Arts has appointed Jorge Pardo, a Los Angeles architect, as Long Beach’s public art manager. In that capacity, he will oversee the program under which local developers contribute a percentage of their budgets for public art.

Pardo, in addition to his architectural work, was the first artist to be commissioned by the city of Austin, Tex., under its public art program in 1989. He has also had solo and group exhibitions in Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Dallas; Puerto Rico, and Guatemala.
