Sports and Education
Flash! Arizona State signs free-agent professor J. Martin to a three-year teaching contract. A popular chemistry maven at Duke since 1987, Martin will receive $3.4 million a year.
Flash! Dr. Ken (Smitt) Smith, Yale’s computer wizard, has been traded to the University of California, officials announced today, in exchange for history professor Amos Jones, basketball coach E. Johnson and two English instructors to be named later. Smith has agreed to accept $16.6 million for a four-year teaching shtick at UC.
If only America respected educators as much as ball players!
