OXNARD : Boy Injured in 3rd Hit-Run Accident

A 6-year-old Oxnard boy on Thursday become the third child to be seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in Oxnard this week, police said.

Elijah Ginder was struck by a passing car as he crossed the street from the sidewalk on Palm Drive and L Street in Oxnard, police said.

The driver, described only as an adult male, fled northbound on L Street. He was driving a full-sized, four-door sedan, medium-blue or dark blue in color, police said. Police said the car was possibly a Cadillac.

Elijah was in serious condition Thursday night at St. John’s Regional Medical Center with a leg fracture and possible head injuries, the nursing supervisorsaid.

Earlier this week, Cesar Lopez and Gerardo Cezares, both 7 and both residents of Oxnard, were injured in separate hit-and-run accidents, police said. Gerardo is in critical condition and Cesar is in stable condition at St. John’s.

“We don’t think there’s anyone running around hitting kids,” said Officer Gary Lumas. “It’s just a coincidence.”
