Sports View Is Winner of Widener
Sports View took the lead at the top of the stretch and scored a 1 3/4-length victory in Saturday’s $200,000 Widener Handicap at Hialeah Park.
Ridden by Chris Antley, Sports View was timed in 2:02 for 1 1/2 miles and paid $8, $4.20 and $3.40. Alyten finished second and paid $11.20 and $8. Peanut Butter Onit was third and returned $8.
Sports View, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Cox’s Ridge, was saddled by assistant trainer Mark Hennig for Wayne Lukas. The winner’s purse of $120,000 raised his earnings to $915,952. He has won 10 of 26 starts with six seconds.
