CYPRESS : Karcher and Knott Honored by College
Cypress College has selected Carl’s Jr. fast-food chain founder Carl Karcher as its man of the year and Knott’s Berry Farm general partner Marion Knott as its woman of the year in honor of the college’s 25th anniversary.
The community college also has selected citizens of the year from each of the seven cities served by the college. All nine award winners will be honored in February during a fund-raising banquet.
The citizens of the year are Mary Anne Mang of Anaheim, Donna Bagley of Buena Park, Terry Hartshorn of Cypress, Diane Donovan of Garden Grove, Alta Duke of La Palma, Judy Klabouch of Los Alamitos and Lahoma Snyder of Stanton.
The college’s Americana Banquet will be Feb. 29 at the Disneyland Hotel. All proceeds from the $125 per-person event will be used for student scholarships and special programs. The college hopes to attract at least 480 guests to the banquet. For tickets, call the Cypress College Foundation at (714) 826-3631.
