Sign on the Dotted Check: Who are the hot hands where autograph seekers are concerned? The January issue of Connoisseur notes that autographs of George Gershwin, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and author Margaret Mitchell are worth big bucks. A letter signed by Gershwin can bring $2,000 to $3,000. Photos signed by Monroe are valued at $1,500 to $2,500, while Elvis’ signed pictures have brought $500 to $1,000. A routine typed letter from Mitchell sells for about $2,000, but if “Gone With the Wind” is mentioned, the value zooms to $7,500.
