Iowa Women Stop Penn State Rally
Toni Foster hit a game-high 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as No. 8 Iowa held off a late surge by No. 6 Penn State for a 61-53 victory in women’s basketball Friday night.
Iowa (8-1) used a full-court press in the early going to hold the Lady Lions (7-4) to only eight points in the first 10 minutes. The Hawkeyes went on an 11-2 run when Cathy Marx hit two baseline jumpers to go ahead 19-10 with 7:18 left in the half.
Virginia 87, Florida St. 60--Top-ranked Virginia handed Florida State its worst loss since the 1987-88 season. Virginia (10-0) has lost only three games since the beginning of last year, including the national championship game to Tennessee.
