Jose Guerrero; Artist Known for Abstract Landscapes

Jose Guerrero, 77, an artist best known for his abstract, splashy landscapes and architectural interpretations. Born in Spain, Guerrero spent much of the 1950s and ‘60s in both his native land and the United States, where he staged several one-man shows at New York galleries. He named Picasso, Miro and Paul Klee as the artists primarily influencing him in his early years and Abstract Expressionists Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline more recently. His works are in many American and European collections, including the Guggenheim, Whitney and Brooklyn museums in New York City.
