California IN BRIEF : SAN JOSE : Student Wounded in Russian Roulette Dies
A high school sophomore who shot himself in the head as he played Russian roulette in the school parking lot died Thursday. Robert Tinoco, 16, was removed from life support systems, said Lori Polevoi of Santa Teresa Community Hospital. He had been sitting with his girlfriend and another friend in a car at Gunderson High School Wednesday morning when he put a bullet in the chamber of the .38-caliber revolver and asked his friend if he wanted to play Russian roulette, police said. When the friend said, “No,” Tinoco raised the gun to his temple and fired. The friend ran to the school and officials called police.
