Canoga Park Man Held in Girlfriend’s Slaying
Los Angeles police arrested a Canoga Park man Thursday on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend last month on her 19th birthday.
Patrick S. Freire, 20, was arrested at his family’s home in the 8700 block of De Soto Avenue, the site of the murder. He will be arraigned on murder charges at San Fernando Municipal Court today.
Freire is accused of killing Agoura resident Holly J. Montgomery on Dec. 12 as she sat in a car outside his home in the De Soto Gardens apartments. Montgomery died from a gunshot wound in her upper torso.
Witnesses said the couple had been arguing before the shooting, Detective Thomas W. Broad said.
