CONEJO VALLEY : State Farm Disputes Report of Cutbacks

Share

State Farm Insurance officials Tuesday said a Chamber of Commerce report that the company trimmed more than 1,000 jobs last year is incorrect.

The report released earlier this week by the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce had indicated that State Farm lost 1,137 jobs between 1990 and 1991.

But a State Farm official said Tuesday that there was no change last year in the 1,000-member work force based at its regional office in Westlake Village.

Until 1991, the chamber had used the total number of workers employed by the regional office, whether or not they work in the Conejo Valley, State Farm spokeswoman Brenda Smith said. The 1991 number reflected only those who work in the valley.
