Milwaukee Brewer pitcher Julio Machado, wanted by police on murder charges in the shooting death of a woman in the western Venezuela city of Barquisimeto, is expected to surrender to police today.
Machado is alleged to have shot a 24-year-old woman in the head with a pistol last month when the car in which she was a passenger refused to let Machado’s car pass.
Machado, a Venezuela native, first pitched in the major leagues in 1989 for the New York Mets. He was traded the next year to the Brewers.
