Roseanne Seeks Permit for Home Gym
Would-be mesomorph actress and comic Roseanne (Barr) Arnold and her husband, Tom, are apparently serious about attaining svelte physiques.
The Arnolds have applied to Los Angeles city officials to build a gym and sauna in the basement of the guest house at their $3-million Brentwood home.
They need a variance for the construction because zoning on their street north of San Vicente Boulevard normally permits homes with only two functional floors. The Arnolds plan to build a two-story guest home above ground on top of the basement gym.
Neighbors told a city zoning administrator at a hearing last week that they don’t have a problem with the Arnolds’ plan.
William Lillenberg, an associate zoning administrator with the city, said the couple will be permitted to build the gym and guest house. Landscaping and other improvements will be required to assure the privacy of neighbors, Lillenberg said.
