San Diego State’s McNaull to Undergo ‘Precautionary’ Tests

Joe McNaull, San Diego State’s 6-foot-10 center, will undergo physical tests today--including a test for mononucleosis--as a “precautionary” measure, according to Aztec Coach Jim Brandenburg.

McNaull has complained of feeling fatigued for the past week, said he felt out of it during SDSU’s loss at New Mexico Thursday and said he was missing shots he shouldn’t have missed during SDSU’s loss at Texas El Paso Saturday.

“All I know is I’ve been sick the past week or so,” McNaull said. “I’m feeling run down, and I’ve been getting 10 or 12 hours of sleep at night.

“I sleepwalked through (the game at New Mexico). I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

Entering SDSU’s game at UTEP, McNaull had played 449 minutes this season, significantly more than the 378 minutes played by Ray Barefield, who was second on the list.

Saturday, McNaull got into early foul trouble and played only 20 minutes against the Miners.

Young scored 15 of her 19 points and grabbed 11 of her 15 rebounds in the final 20 minutes and was named most valuable player of the tournament.
