A Los Angeles mother felled by a shotgun blast to the back of her head following a fight with her son over use of the telephone died Wednesday, and the teen-ager was booked for murder, police said.

The 17-year-old, whose name was withheld, is expected to face a murder charge for the death of Waleska Galeas, 37, said Detective Dan Andrews of the Police Department’s Wilshire Station. The boy was held at Eastlake Juvenile Hall.

The incident began Tuesday when the two argued over the boy’s use of the telephone, Andrews said. The boy “left the residence and met with a friend, who gave him a sawed-off shotgun,” Andrews said. “He returned to the house, where he remained until 4:40 p.m. At that time, the woman was standing in the kitchen, preparing a meal. The youth loaded the shotgun and shot his mother in the back of the head. He then telephoned 911 and reported the shooting.”
