Man Gets 44 Years in Rape of Retarded Woman
A Santa Monica man was sentenced to 44 years in prison Thursday for the rape and beating last summer of a woman who has the mental capacity of a child.
Chester James Runions, 39, was found guilty Jan. 13 of two counts of assault, one count of forcible oral copulation, one count of rape with a foreign object and one count of robbery.
Santa Monica Superior Court Judge James Albracht sentenced Runions to the maximum prison term on all counts and ordered him to serve the terms consecutively, Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Stone said. Runions attacked the 48-year-old woman on a busy sidewalk near Pico Boulevard and 20th Street on July 29, police said.
