7 Hurt in 5-Car Crash; Freeway Lanes Closed

Seven people were injured Sunday in a five-vehicle traffic collision that blocked all four southbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway in Castaic for an hour, authorities said.

One person was seriously injured and six others suffered minor injuries in the crash that occurred about 1:40 a.m. south of Parker Road, Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher Floyd Horn III said. The victims, whose names were not available, were taken by helicopter and ambulance to local hospitals, he said.

One traffic lane was opened at 2:45 a.m. and another was cleared at 3:20 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Bill Granados said. All lanes were open by 4 a.m., he said.
