Freeze Frame: The art world’s latest recession victim is Santa Monica College’s Photography Gallery, which will close Feb. 12. Director Robert Godwin blamed the closure on state budget cuts which have reduced the college’s funding by 10-15%. The gallery was one of the state’s few public spaces to focus exclusively on photography.

Gallery open-- The Santa Monica College Photography Gallery is not closing, as erroneously reported in Tuesday’s Calendar. State budget cuts are forcing the gallery to refocus its efforts on student and faculty work and on less expensive guest shows.
