Reopening Is Stocked to the Gills
Thousands of fishermen showed up for the reopening of Santa Ana River Lakes, and few were disappointed, according to lake officials.
That’s probably because 16,000 pounds of trout and catfish were stocked before the opener.
The best catch was a 12-pound 12-ounce trout by Jeff Scheller of Whittier. The top stringer, filled by Sal Lopez of Upland, weighed 21 pounds 8 ounces and included a nine-pound rainbow.
