Bell Gardens : City Hall to Close Fridays as Employees Test 4-Day Week
Beginning next week, Bell Gardens City Hall will be closed Fridays as city employees start a trial workweek of four 10-hour days. The trial period will last six months and then be evaluated.
The City Council unanimously approved the new schedule to comply with South Coast Air Quality Management District regulations that require employers to reduce the number of trips their employees make to and from work. Other Southeast-area cities that have adopted four-day workweeks are Huntington Park and Bell.
In Bell Gardens, the Recreation and Public Works departments will remain on a regular five-day schedule.
