Share

Three Ventura youths were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing Buena High School early Saturday morning, causing more than $5,000 worth of damage, police said.

The names of the juveniles were not released because of their ages.

Ventura Police Officer David Wilson saw a van picking up the three after they ran from the campus about 2:30 a.m., police said. Wilson and Officer Jack Richards pulled over the van and found spray-paint cans in the vehicle.

At least 15 areas of the school grounds had been vandalized with blue and red paint, police said.

Officers estimated the damage at more than $5,000 and classified the crime as a felony, Richards said.

The van the youths were riding in was stolen from the juvenile home from which they had run away, Richards said. They were booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of vandalism and joy-riding.
