A Simi Valley sporting goods store owner won $25,000 in the California Big Spin on Saturday.

Chuck Lewis, 63, said he had no immediate plans for the windfall. “I might get a car, but not right now,” Lewis said.

On the Big Spin, contestants are given a choice between a guaranteed $40,000 or a chance to spin the wheel with a guaranteed minimum of $25,000 and the possibility of winning up to $2 million.

Lewis had mixed emotions over his decision to spin.

“It’s great to win $25,000, don’t get me wrong,” he said. “I’m disappointed I didn’t get a million--but I’m excited about being here.”

Lewis, a Simi Valley resident since 1963, said that, although he plays both the Lotto and the scratcher contests on a regular basis, this was by far his biggest payday.

“I won $100 once,” he said. “I play the Lotto every week--$5, sometimes $10. I play the scratchers off and on.”

Lewis’ windfall came off a scratcher. His winning ticket and five others were randomly selected by computer from a batch of 2,100 tickets. Those six people appeared on the Big Spin program.
