Border Patrol’s Actions Attacked and Defended

Share

I feel I can not remain silent on the issue/controversy surrounding the checkpoint at San Onofre. I am an extremely compassionate person and am deeply saddened by the continuing deaths and injuries there, but the facts speak for themselves.

The responsibility for the deaths/injuries continuing is that of the people running across the highways. The illegal immigrants-- not the Border Patrol, not the California Highway Patrol. To say that because the illegal immigrants are not, for the most part, drug smugglers, etc., but only looking for work does not make what they do right. They are criminals. They are in this country illegally. If they were not doing something wrong, they would not be running across highways where cars are doing 65 m.p.h.

While I feel the utmost compassion for their plight, I have to say I resent those who say the continuing injury/death problem is the fault of those very agencies we created to deal with the problem!

Furthermore, who is paying for all the medical care they receive? Are the doctors who are soundly criticizing the controlling agencies donating their services? Is the hospital? If not, then put your money where your mouth is!

In a time when many Americans are out of work and without even basic medical insurance, this is at best irresponsible behavior. Quit asking the taxpayer to pick up the tab! There are too many other causes that need our attention here at home.
