HUNTINGTON LIBRARY: A major exhibition of rare books, maps and manuscripts documenting the Spanish exploration of the Americas opens Friday at the Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Rd., San Marino. POLICING LONG BEACH: The City Council is scheduled to discuss a Sheriff’s Department report that estimates the city would save more than $29 million a year if it abolished its Police Department and hired sheriff’s deputies.
