From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Los Angeles police are investigating a reported burglary at the Encino home of former state Sen. Alan Robbins (D-Van Nuys), who resigned in disgrace last year after pleading guilty to two felony counts of tax evasion and violation of a federal racketeering law. Robbins told police that he left his home in the 16000 block of Oak View Drive about 6:10 p.m. Saturday and returned at 8:30 p.m. to find a side gate open and about $2,000 in stereo equipment missing, Detective James Dieli said. The thieves apparently entered the house through an unlocked side door, Dieli said. No one was home at the time, and no property damage was reported, Dieli said. When asked by officers taking the crime report for his occupation, Robbins, who is waiting to be sentenced April 6, replied: “Retired.”
