The Slow Club, the newest in a growing field of once-a-week clubs featuring local alternative-rock talent, will make its debut Saturdayat the International Pub in Irvine. Performing are Electric Cool Aid, Delicious Mind Gardens and the People. The Tories, Betty and the Joneses and Technicolor Overdrive make up the bill on Feb. 15. The Slow Club’s promoter is Costa Mesa rock musician Chris Fahey, who has staged several benefit concerts, including one in December starring the Dickies. Fahey co-promoted that show with Craig McGahey, who runs the New Klub on the Block, another alternative-rock showcase each Friday and Saturday at Costa Mesa’s Newport Roadhouse.

“I hate to compete with Craig, but I get bored watching him have all the fun,” Fahey said.

BENEFIT RESULTS: A daylong benefit concert Sunday at the Fullerton Hofbrau drew more than 400 people and raised $730 for the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Orange County, according to organizer Steven Lamprinos. The show featured six Fullerton-based alternative-rock bands.
