A woman who says scented perfume advertisements make her ill has sued Neiman Marcus for $4,000.

Julia Kendall, a co-founder of Citizens for a Toxic-Free Marin, told a Marin County Municipal Court commissioner that the Texas-based department store chain mailed her two catalogues with aromatic ads.

Kendall, who wore a gas mask in court, said the scent made her cough and choke and caused her throat to swell.
