Covina : Officials Oppose Nude Bar
City officials have asked a Los Angeles County agency not to allow a nude-dancing bar to reopen in a neighboring community.
Although the bar is in an unincorporated patch of land in the Azusa area, it is about 100 feet from Covina’s city limits.
The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a joint resolution with the city Planning Commission, urging the county Department of Regional Planning to deny a conditional use permit for live adult entertainment at the Shangri-La Bar on East Arrow Highway, east of Azusa Avenue.
The bar was closed down two years ago after the owner violated county zoning regulations.
The county Regional Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on the permit application for Feb. 26.
