President on the State of the Union

Whether a Democrat or Republican, one must commend President Bush’s address to the American public. Yes, he did reflect upon a war that has long been over; yet, his specifics on domestic affairs was a welcome relief to those, like myself, tired of political rhetoric.

Finally, Bush concentrated on the pressing issues, then proceeded to directly define ways in which to solve the problem. Surprisingly, he attacked our large government and illustrated the fact that it must be reduced if the deficit is ever to be managed, the recession to end and never to return, and if the public is to ever regain trust in our democratic system.
