MISSION VIEJO : Baby Taken in Car Theft; Woman Held
- Share via
A woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly stole a car outside a convenience store with a 1-year-old boy sleeping in the back seat.
The infant’s baby-sitter and two other adults had gone into the store at 28752 Marguerite Parkway just after noon, leaving the car unlocked and the engine running, investigators said.
While 1-year-old Eduardo Farfan slept unattended in the back seat, a woman hopped behind the wheel and drove off, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Hunt, who saw the car heading south on Interstate 5 near the Camino Las Ramblas exit in San Juan Capistrano, pulled the driver over on Avenida Calita.
Alma Rosa Aguilar, 29, was arrested without incident, said Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson. Investigators did not know if she realized the baby was in the car.
Eduardo Farfan was released to his mother, Louisa Farfan, 25.
