United Reportedly Laying Off 300: United Airlines, which just reported a $332-million 1991 loss, is laying off 300 workers at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The layoffs include 174 part-time workers. A United spokeswoman would say only that the company is “making minor adjustments.” Most of those being laid off are members of the International Assn. of Machinists, including ramp workers, aircraft interior cleaners and food handlers, the newspaper said.
