LAKE CASITAS : Well May Augment Supply of Water

Share

The Casitas Municipal Water District is evaluating a new source of water that could augment Lake Casitas’ diminishing supply, officials said Thursday.

District employees incorporated the Mira Monte well into their on-line water system last week after a long period of not pumping from it, General Manager John Johnson said.

Water from the well, which has not been used continuously since the Casitas district took over the Mira Monte Mutual Water Co. in 1981, could augment Lake Casitas water if it turns out to be a sustainable source, Johnson said.

The district should have an accurate reading on the well’s integrity in the next few weeks, Johnson said.
