A Vote Against City Manager Systems

Share

I wish to express my desire for the city government of Dana Point to be reshuffled and set up as a charter city versus a general law city and further to eliminate the position of city manager. Considering the size of Dana Point, six square miles, and the economic situation currently permeating our pockets and coffers, eliminating the city manager position would be one way of preserving the city’s financial health and keeping the taxpayers from being ripped off.

It is my opinion that all cities need to take a hard look at eliminating the city manager-type of government. They say criminals sent to prison only learn how to be better criminals. Likewise, city managers belong to an organization where it appears they learn better, faster and more profitable ways, to extract money from the taxpayer.
