The Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership (ZGF) of Newport Beach has been selected to design the new California Museum of Science & Industry facility in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. The $41.3-million project, funded by the Earthquake Safety & Public Building Rehabilitation Bond Act of 1990, will provide 600,000 square feet for exhibition, education, entertainment and public services. The museum has been closed since October, 1990, for earthquake safety reasons. ZGF, which won the American Institute of Architects 1991 Architecture Firm award, also is working with the museum and the Office of the State Architect on a new master plan for Exposition Park. The firm’s other projects in California include seven buildings on five UC California campuses, and urban design and station area planning for the Central Orange County Aerial Guideway and the Mission Valley West Light Rail Transitway in San Diego.
