Third Challenger Enters D.A. Race Against Reiner

Share

A veteran Los Angeles County prosecutor on Monday became the third challenger to announce that he will run against two-term incumbent Ira Reiner in this year’s race for district attorney.

Sterling Norris, a deputy district attorney for the past 23 years who is best known for prosecuting the so-called “Freeway Killer” as well as for his advocacy of victims’ rights, declared his candidacy at a press conference featuring victims of criminals he has tried.

Norris blasted Reiner’s leadership, complaining that the district attorney has lost too many high-profile cases, spent $12 million on an unnecessary computer system and has hired former political consultants for his staff. Of Reiner, Norris said: “He made a very miserable mess of the entire eight years.”
