The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Thursday reinstated a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer of Sheriff’s Sgt. George Arthur, who was shot and killed on June 1, 1985.

The supervisors hope that the reward, along with an upcoming feature on unsolved police killings on the television program “America’s Most Wanted,” will stimulate interest and lead to an arrest. The half-hour show is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Feb. 29 on Channel 11.

Arthur, a 13-year department veteran, was shot in his van on a downtown freeway on-ramp moments after he left work at the Men’s Central Jail. Supervisors have offered rewards on two other occasions without results.
