San Marino : Euclid Parking Limits OKd

Share

Parking on North Euclid Avenue will be restricted to residents for the next six months, the City Council decided Wednesday.

Parking already is restricted along Mission Street, the main commercial street in the Mission District, and officials said most of the problem on Euclid is from employees of businesses on Mission.

Business people complained that the designation, which will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, will be an extreme hardship.

Residents of the area will get three permit stickers per home. A petition signed by 42 residents had asked for the restriction, and results of a survey mailed to residents also favored the change.

During the six-month trial, residents and business owners will meet with city officials to decide whether a parking assessment district should be established to pay for a public parking lot.

The city owns a lot at 2410-2420 Mission St., bought in 1989 as a possible parking site, City Manager Keith Till said.
