WHISTLE STOP: From President Benjamin Harrison in 1891 to George Bush 100 years later, Orange County has welcomed 14 current and former chief executives. . . . Historian Jim Sleeper says Harrison showed up 15 years after leaving office and was welcomed with a reception at the Santa Fe Depot in Santa Ana. . . . Warren G. Harding, above, was a frequent visitor; his sister lived in Santa Ana and he was a member of the Newport Yacht Club. He was en route for a visit in the summer of 1923 when he died of apparent food poisoning.
