Promoting ‘Buy American’

Recent comments by Japanese officials on the failing American work ethic and unproductive workers may, I’m afraid, contain a grain of truth. What hasn’t been mentioned is the role American business has played in this scenario. How can we expect the workers to be loyal, productive and enthusiastic on the job when management doesn’t reward its top performers, fails to invest in promising new ideas and treats workers as just so much excess baggage to be cast off as soon as profits dip?
Until American business really buys into the fact that it is its human resources that make a business grow and thrive, we may continue to have problems competing in the world market.
