Be Wary of Soka Misinformation

Share

You recently published a letter criticizing The Times’ coverage of Soka University’s development plans. The letter stated there was “growing support in the local community” for Soka as evidenced by a 60-member community support group. Your readers should be wary of such misinformation.

There is essentially no support for Soka in our Monte Nido neighborhood. At the last annual meeting of the Malibu Meadows Property Owners Assn., the roughly 100 members in attendance voted overwhelmingly, with only one dissenting vote, to oppose Soka’s development plans.

Many of us rely on The Times for current information on this important issue. More parklands are needed as use intensifies at the existing parks. We don’t need another university with Pepperdine just a few miles away. Soka should be giving its neighbors a break.
