George Washington Is a Winner on Presidents’ Day
Sonni Holland scored eight points in a 10-1 run late in the second half that lifted George Washington to a 75-70 nonconference victory over James Madison in a Presidents’ Day matchup Monday.
The loss was the third in a row for James Madison (16-8). George Washington is 14-8.
James Madison went nearly eight minutes without a field goal in the second half before mounting a rally in the final minute that reduced an eight-point deficit to two. George Washington maintained its lead by hitting six of eight free throws in the final 34 seconds.
Dirkk Surles of George Washington led all scorers with 20 points.
